This position is located at Bureau of Engraving and Printing, within the External Affairs Division DCF. As a Supervisory Public Affairs Specialist, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, analyzing, implementing and evaluating broad public information and education programs, coordinating all public affairs activities, and managing Congressional and general correspondence.
Duties
As a Supervisory Public Affairs Specialist, you will:
Manage all internal and external communication activities to convey complex information concerning Bureau products, programs and policies.
Develop and execute communication plans by considering such items as the most effective media to use in communicating with target audiences, the appropriate messages for target audiences, and other considerations for effective communication to positively affect target group behavior.
Establish and develop effective relationships with media representatives and public affairs personnel of internal and external groups to develop new communications channels for target audiences.
Provide expert technical assistance and consultation to or give advice to senior management officials in planning and executing special projects or events.
Prepare Congressional testimony for the Director for hearings before the House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate. Acts for the Chief, Office of External Relations in his /her absence.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience:
For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service.
Specialized experience for the GS-14 is one year of experience at the GS-13 level or equivalent, in either public or private sectors, that is directly related to the position as listed in this announcement and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience is defined as experience:
Leading or overseeing projects or special events including delegating tasks to ensure all phases are complete and in alignment with organizational goals; AND
Handling media relations such as interview requests, press inquiries, media visits, or coordination of on-air interviews; AND
Developing and managing official internal and external communications for an organization; AND
Assisting with developing digital content for an organization (examples may include websites, social media, videos, or digital displays).
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-14, you must have been at the GS-13level for 52 weeks.
