You will serve as a Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic Leader in the Production Division, PWD NSA Hampton Roads of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.
Duties
You will disassemble and repair repairing a variety of components including compressors, evaporators, condensers, cooling coils, air handlers, bearings, water control valves, air dampers, etc.
You will apply knowledge and skill in the principles and theories of air conditioning and refrigeration.
You will lubricate moving parts and replaces air filters, v belts, electrical motors, pulleys, sheaves, bearings, fan shafts, etc.
You will diagnose, locate and repair malfunctions to the main operating mechanical components of large, complex heating, ventilation; air conditioning, and refrigeration systems (HVAC).

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position may be considered Essential and the incumbent will be required to report for duty or held in a duty status to provide support before, during, and/or after emergency situations, disasters, or periods of increased security threat.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current CFC/HFC Certification (Universal) as required by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
- You may be required to serve as an on-call duty mechanic on a rotational basis, required to carry a duty cell phone and/or pager and must main available to respond on site to after-hour emergencies within two hours.

I have the ability to perform common tasks under general supervision including: 1) Applying knowledge and skill in the principles and theories of air conditioning and refrigeration. 2) Disassembling and repairing a variety of components including compressors, evaporators, condensers, cooling coils, air handlers, bearings, water control valves, air dampers, etc. 3) Lubricating moving parts and replaces air filters, v belts, electrical motors, pulleys, sheaves, bearings, fan shafts, etc. 4) Leading a crew of more than three WG-10 Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanics and passing on instructions received from the supervisor to the crew to get the work started. 5) Advising the crew to follow instructions and plans to meet deadlines. 6) Coordinating work in the field with crew, supervisors and customers.
