About the Position: Serve as the Chief of the Army Substance Abuse Program located at Fort Stewart. Plan and implement an Army Substance Abuse Program (ASAP) in accordance with Department of Defense, Department of Army, and Installation Management Command (IMCOM) policies and guidelines.

Duties

Plan, direct, supervise, and evaluate the Installation’s Army Substance Abuse Program (ASAP). Ensure appropriate substance abuse prevention education is provided to the serviced population, in coordination with tenant commanders, activity directors, subject-matter experts, legal and medical authorities, and others as needed and/or required. Provide data for budget and manpower planning to higher headquarters and manages and monitors the installation Army Substance Abuse Program budget. Assure military and civilian drug testing is performed in accordance with with prescribed procedures to include chain of custody procedures and physical security measures. Perform all actions in support of personnel to include hiring, orienting, contracting, directing, supervising, monitoring, and evaluating performance.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Position requires a secret clearance.
  • One year supervisory probationary period.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1. Providing Substance Abuse education/guidance in developing segments of specific Substance Abuse programs; 2. Assisting in administering Substance Abuse Program prevention; 3. Explaining regulatory and legal requirements regarding Substance Abuse programs; 4. Reviewing proposed changes for regulatory requirements of a program. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Influencing/NegotiatingManaging Human ResourcesPlanning and EvaluatingTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
