You will serve as a Quality Assurance Specialist in the Safety and Mission Assurance (SMA) Directorate, Exploration Ground Systems Division, Quality Assurance Branch (SA-F4), responsible for administering, evaluating, and coordinating a comprehensive quality assurance program. You will perform Government Mandatory Inspection Points (GMIPs), assessments/audits, final acceptance of flight hardware, receiving inspections, and review of Acceptance Data Packs.
Duties
Duties described below are at the highest grade advertised. Duties assigned at lower grade levels will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity; duties will be commensurate with the grade of selected employee.
Assesses existence, adequacy, compliance, and effectiveness of the contractor's Quality Management Systems activities.
Participates in working groups at Program, Agency, and other government organizations in the development of aerospace systems, quality assurance guidelines, and Safety and Mission Assurance (SMA) directives supporting assigned programs and projects.
Collaborates with quality engineering to establish a feasible quality program, developing assessment processes using tools such as surveillance, sampling, audits, and other methodologies as necessary.
Verifies contractors’ products/services comply with contract requirements, ensuring products are produced per design documentation, drawings, and specifications, while maintaining good working relations with contractor counterparts.
Reviews and approves contractors' plans and procedures for compliance with quality assurance requirements, resolving contractors' problems with interpreting and conforming to NASA policies and standards.
Performs Government Mandatory Inspection Points (GMIPs), final acceptance of flight hardware, receiving inspections, audits/assessments, and review of Acceptance Data Packs.
Performs Procurement Quality Assurance verifying contractor compliance with contracts, Statements of Work, and engineering/quality requirements.
Evaluates existing Government Quality models for effectiveness and efficiency.

Qualifications
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
To qualify for GS-11, you must have:
a) One year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level:
assisting in conducting assessments or audits of aerospace product quality to document findings and evaluate corrective actions;
documenting the results of acceptance and surveillance inspections associated with the manufacture, assembly, and/or testing of aerospace hardware or systems; and
assessing aerospace product quality using tools such as surveillance, sampling, audits, assessments, checklists, metrics, or other methodologies.
OR
b) Completed all requirements for a doctoral degree (i.e., Ph.D. or equivalent) in an appropriate field
OR
c) Completed 3 full academic years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or equivalent doctoral degree in an appropriate field
OR
d) LL.M., if related
OR
e) Have an equivalent combination of experience and graduate study as discussed in a), b), c) and d) above
To qualify for GS-12, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level:
conducting assessments or audits of aerospace product quality to document findings and evaluate corrective actions;
performing acceptance and surveillance inspections associated with the manufacture, assembly, and/or testing of aerospace hardware or systems; and
assisting in the development of assessment processes of aerospace product quality using tools such as surveillance,
sampling, audits, assessments, checklists, metrics, or other methodologies.
