These positions are located in Region III, Division of Operating Reactor Safety.  Applicants should rank their location preference in the location preference field and/or indicate location preference using vacancy announcement question #1. Byron Resident Office, Byron, IL - supervisor Richard Skokowski - locality 30.41%; relocation incentive 20%. DC Cook Resident Office, Bridgman, MI - supervisor Dariusz Szwarc - locality 21.50%; relocation incentive 20%.  

Duties

The successful candidate will implement the agency's inspection program at a nuclear reactor site and serve as an onsite representative of the NRC to that licensee and the public.  Such duties include but are not limited to:

  • This is a Drug Testing position.
  • This position requires a LH security clearance.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.   SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is defined as demonstrated knowledge and experience in nuclear plant operations, systems, integrated facility operations, and design.  Such experience should have provided you with the full range of knowledge, skills, and abilities addressed in the rating factor questions that are associated with this vacancy announcement, specifically, your knowledge of and ability to apply nuclear industry standards, rules and regulations. 

Education

Candidates must possess a bachelor's or higher degree in professional engineering or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience demonstrating a thorough knowledge of principles, theories, and practices in the field of engineering.  Additional information regarding educational requirements may be found here:  OPM Qualification Standards for Professional Engineering Position.
