This position is located in Department of Homeland Security/U.S. Coast Guard, Directorate of Logistics (DOL), Base Miami Beach, in Miami Beach, FL.

Duties

This position functions as secretary and principal office assistant to the Commanding Officer, Coast Guard Base Miami Beach providing secretarial and office management support, and directing all program, administrative and support operations for the Command.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • This position requires a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
  • Applicants must be able to type 40 words per minute
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • This position requires 1-year probationary period.

Qualifications

AT THE GRADE LEVEL GS-08: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 grade level in the Federal sector.  Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include:  Identifies workflow problems, scheduling conflicts, and other situations with negative impact on organizational efficiency or effectiveness. Analyzes same to specify problem areas and develop changes to resolve them. Designs and implements, or recommends, procedures, reporting and/or control mechanisms to improve operations. Provides assistance and directions to secretarial staff at lower organizational levels regarding procedures, administrative requirements, need for information, deadlines, and related items.National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
