The primary purpose of this position, Materials Handler, (Tools and Parts Attendant), WG-6907-06, is to perform administrative and technical work in support of aircraft maintenance in the organizational Material and Services Support Section.
Duty Title: Supply/Equipment HAZMAT Management Technician
Duties
In the operation of the Material and Services Support Section incumbent will apply a thorough knowledge of local, state and federal environmental rules, regulation, and statutes which are pertinent to the issues being worked.
Perform a complete range of standards receiving, storage, and issuing of assigned stock, tools, tool kits, and/or equipment items.
Perform inventories using bar code wands, labeling equipment, laser scanning equipment, and/or computer terminals in tracking assigned items.
Maintain catalogs, technical orders, and initiate supply actions.
Knowledge of Local, State, Federal environmental guidelines pertaining to the work and the ability to read and understand Material Safety Data Sheets

- May be required to act as the primary or alternate equipment custodian or PMEL/TMDE monitor.
- May be required to build tool/parts kits.
- Incumbent may be tasked with additional job-related duties and responsibilities in support of the Maintenance Group mission.
- BOTH Recruitment AND "RELOCATION" bonus may be offered at the selection officials’ discretion from $0 - $10,000.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-6900 Warehousing and Stock Handling Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
The screen out element for this position is Ability to Do the Work of the Position Without More Than Normal Supervision.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Works on hard surfaces and in work areas that require standing, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Required to lift empty 55-gallon barrels, and pallets, and to move full barrels with the aid of a barrel hand truck. There is some walking through hot equipment rooms, aircraft maintenance areas, and industrial spaces. Occasionally may be required to lift and carry items that may weigh 50 pounds. Requires pushing and pulling moderate to heavy containers and equipment used to store and package hazardous materials. May lift heavier items with weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is generally done in areas that are well lighted, heated, and ventilated. Work outdoors involves exposure to desert temperatures as high as 110 Degrees Fahrenheit and as low as 20 Degrees Fahrenheit. Work also involves visits to maintenance areas in which high or low temperatures or high noise situations may occur. The work is sometimes dirty, dusty, and greasy. The employee is frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, and bruises.
