This position is located at the Fort Thompson Indian Health Center, Fort Thompson, SD. The position will serve as the Director of the Behavioral Health Department, which provides comprehensive behavioral/mental health services to pediatric, adolescent, adult and elderly patients and comprehensive
outpatient alcohol/drug treatment services.
Duties
Planning and implementing the behavioral health programs.
Assesses, plans, and provides comprehensive and therapeutic medical care to individual geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric and infant patients and their family in regards to medication management.
Participates in quality improvement programs and initiatives, ensuring compliance.
Promotes organizational and professional obligations; completion of clinical
records/documentation in a timely manner.

Individual Occupational Requirements
Basic Requirements
Degree: major or equivalent in psychology for all specializations except clinical psychology and counseling psychology. These two specializations have additional educational requirements, as stated below:
Clinical psychology: For positions at grades GS-11 and above, satisfactory completion of all the requirements for the doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology is required.
Counseling psychology: For positions at grades GS-9 and above, satisfactory completion of 2 full academic years of graduate study directly related to professional work in counseling psychology, or satisfactory completion in an accredited educational institution of all the requirements for a master's degree directly related to counseling psychology is required.
In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
GS-13: 1 year of specialized experience that has equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. This specialized experience is related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal service as described in the vacancy announcement. Examples include: Experience in supervisory clinical psychologist duties including planning, developing, coordinating and evaluating a comprehensive clinical psychology program for a department or clinic, clinical psychological treatment of clients and
patients, experience in a mental health setting clinic or hospital while providing psychological evaluations, assessments and follow ups. Performing referral, intake, diagnostic, treatment, and crisis intervention and consultation service for mental health patients.
Selective Placement Factor
Ability to independently provide direct services to patients as evidenced by a current, valid, active, unrestricted license, as a Clinical Psychologist in any state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
