The position is located in the Behavioral Health Department of the Ft. Thompson IHS clinic in Ft. Thompson, South Dakota. The position of Clinical Psychologist will involve substance abuse/mental health services and consultation with a variety of public agencies throughout the State of South Dakota and throughout the Indian Health Service agencies.
Duties
Provides comprehensive mental and behavioral health care to individuals with mental and emotional illnesses, substance abuse and behavioral disorders and problems. Provides psychological, mental health and substance abuse counseling, treatment, and prevention services to individuals, children, families and groups of all ages.
Assesses, diagnose and treat mental, emotional and behavioral disorders presented by patients through observation, interview, counseling and psychological testing.
Secures a comprehensive medical, developmental, psychological and psychiatric history from the client, client's medical record and/or client's family.
Records findings, as appropriate, utilizing behavioral health package and electronic medical record.
Qualifications

You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
GS-13: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: work as a psychologist in a mental health setting clinic or hospital while providing psychological evaluations, delivering therapeutic mental health treatment modalities for patients. Provide consultation, collaboration and follow up. Assist and refer patients with acute, chronic or severe mental illnesses and dual diagnosis patient populations. Use an electronic health records for patients.
Selective Placement Factor: Must possess an active, current, unrestricted, state license as Clinical Psychologist.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
