You will serve as a Utilities Systems Repairer-Operator in the Public Works Department of NAVAL FAC ENGINEERING CMD WASH.
Duties
You will maintain records and logs of work performed on utility systems.
You will use blueprints, specifications, drawings, and circuit diagrams to quickly locate defects in utility systems to perform repairs.
You will operate boiler plants and auxiliary equipment to produce and control the amount of steam necessary to meet demands.
You will use written procedures to safely test and repair boiler plant equipment.
Requirements

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Third Class Stationary Engineer license..
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current CPR certification.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position may require occasional travel from normal duty station. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

I have the ability to perform common tasks including: 1) Performs maintenance and operates single and multiple fuel boilers and related auxiliary equipment in a steam or high temperature water boiler plant to produce and control the amount of steam necessary to meet demands; 2) Interpret drawings and circuit diagrams of the boiler plant and auxiliary equipment to quickly locate defects in the system and perform minor repairs; 3) Utilize prescribed tests and chemical to treat and test boiler water. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
