Salary: $40 - 47 per hour

You will serve as a UTILITIES CIVIL SYSTEMS SUPERVISOR in the CIVIL PRODUCT AND SERVICE LINE DIVISION of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST.

Duties

You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Product and Service Line's Quality section at four different notifications, assist in their correction, and the gathering of appropriate reporting information. You will plan the sequence of operations for the crews in accordance with standard practice or special instructions (oral and written) from the work control system, Product and Service Line Manager or Product and Service Line Operations Manager. You will resolve working problems and take necessary corrective actions to overcome delays such as bottlenecks, equipment breakage, and shortage of equipment and/or manpower. You will alert the Product and Service Line Manager or Product and Service Line Operations Manager to system operating deficiencies and make recommendations for corrective actions. You will be responsible for training or securing training for subordinates in: work methods and procedures, the proper use of tools and equipment, casualty control procedures, State Licensing and/or Certification requirements. You will participate in performance ratings, leave requests, commendatory and disciplinary actions, promotions, demotions, and beneficial suggestions, etc.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current certification as a Backflow Tester, Backflow Specialist, Water Treatment Operator and Water Distributuion Operator.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

Qualifications

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE: 1) Assigning work to subordinates by oral or written communication; 2) Anticipating manpower and equipment needs to minimize delays; 3) Assisting in the monitoring of daily pump operations and chlorination logs, charts, and data to ensure water quality is maintained; and 4) Performing housekeeping duties, ensuring that equipment is properly used, cleaned, maintained, repaired, and serviced in accordance with current schedules and requirements Applicants must meet the requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Job Qualification Handbook for Trades and Labor Occupations.
