This position is in Region 7, Superfund and Emergency Management Division, Lead Mining and Special Emphasis Branch, Mining and Smelting Remediation Section. About Region 7 This is an office-centered position*--you must physically report to the duty station stated in this announcement on a regular basis.*Work-from-home flexibilities may be authorized as described in the Benefits section.

Qualifications

We are looking for at least one year of specialized experience related to this position as described below: To qualify for the GS-07 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-05 level defined as Assisting in the collection, compilation, review and/or evaluation of program plans, facility progress reports, statistical data and/or background information for compliance with program guidelines and regulations.- OR 1 full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement (Superior Academic Achievement Definition) degree in an academic discipline related to this position - OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. To qualify for the GS-09 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-07 level defined as developing and executing plans in environmental field work or construction/safety oversight activities.- OR master's or equivalent graduate degree; or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.B. or J.D., if related; degree in an academic discipline related to this position - OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of environmental sampling, characterization, and design activities. Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to environmental construction projects. Knowledge of environmental construction and safety principles and regulations. Knowledge of contracting principles and experience working with contractors. Ability to serve as a Contract Officer Representative (COR) on a variety of safety, site characterization, design, and construction activities on contracts. Ability to serve as a COR on a variety of safety, site characterization, design, and construction activities on contracts. Ability to make decisions or recommendations to ensure that environmental projects are completed on-time and within budget while adhering to the terms of the contract. Ability to work with others in a team environment and effectively communicate. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
