About the Position: Serve as a Physical Security Specialist for an IMCOM Installation at Fort Gregg-Adams Virginia.
Duties
Perform as a Physical Security Specialist for the Installation and is responsible for physical security plans, surveys, procedures, and inspections as well as key control.
Advise the supervisor regarding complicated physical security inspection/survey procedures, security related legal matters, and jurisdictional problems peripheral to or beyond the guidance provided by the higher headquarters.
Prepare clear and concise evaluation reports substantiating findings and recommendations for corrective action.
Conduct physical security site-surveys to determine and identify state-of-the-art electronic Intrusion Detection System (IDS) and components, and technical security equipment, required for the protection of US Army Assets.
Recommend initiation or revision of local regulations falling within the purview of the Physical Security Division.
Provide guidance, recommendations, and assistance to Commanders, supervisors and employees concerning security systems, physical protection devices, Visitor Control Center and personnel access controls.
Analyze the applicability of physical security guidelines to specific circumstances.
Prepare regulatory changes to establish criteria for inspection of individual facilities.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a SECRET security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health, ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) and is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. IAW AR 600-85, a DA 5019R Condition of Employment must be signed for mandatory drug testing.
- This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban (the Lautenberg Amendment) which bans individuals convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence and certain others from possession or access to firearms or ammunition.
- Incumbent in this position is designated as Mission Essential (IAW DODI 3024.42 and DTM 17-004) position during Inclement Weather Conditions or other designed/identified emergency conditions.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or its possessions.
- This position requires to obtain the Security Professional Education Development Core (SPeD) Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment.
- This position requires to obtain and maintain the physical security course (7H-3aD/830-ASI H-3) conducted by the USAMPS.
- The work requires regular and recurring physical exertion, such as extensive walking, bending, stooping, reaching, crawling and similar activities. May also require working both inside and outside, being exposed to the inclement weather conditions.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 20% of the time.

Specialized Experience: One-year specialized experience which includes: 1) Assisting with administering and managing a physical security program; 2) Conducting physical security inspections and surveys; AND 3) Providing corrective recommendations to protect personnel and property. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
