The position serves as a Senior Policy/Intelligence Advisor to the Deputy Assistant Secretary (DAS) for the Threat Investigations and Analysis (TIA) Directorate in the Bureau of Diplomatic Security. You will provide advice, guidance, and direction on a broad range of complex management issues, and sensitive policy initiatives, and specialized program operations.
Duties
Serve as Senior Advisor to the Deputy Assistant Secretary, providing advisory services, recommendations, and solutions on management issues.
Develop and lead a variety of cross-cutting initiatives that are critical to the development of policy and operational objectives.
Plan and conduct special projects on topics of a high profile, high priority nature. Refine policies and align them to the strategic planning process.
Initiate and build relationships with the United States Government's Intelligence Community (IC) members. Provides expertise to define the role of Diplomatic Security with the IC and support services at the program level.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Incumbent will be subject to random drug testing.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
- Obtain/maintain eligibility to access Sensitive Compartmented Information
Qualifications
Applicants must meet all the required qualification requirements described below by the closing date of this announcement.
NOTE: Applicants must meet time-in-grade and time after competitive appointment requirements, by the closing date of this announcement.
Time-In-Grade Requirements: Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions, per 5CFR 300, Subpart F.
Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
-Experience applying management and program analysis concepts, methods, and practices to conduct comprehensive analysis of programs and resources.
-Experience developing policy and operational objectives on workforce planning, investigative, and/or protective operations.
-Experience defending recommendations, reconciling conflicting viewpoints, resolving problems, and representing the organization in a wide variety of forums.
There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-14 position.
