This position is located at Departmental Offices, Domestic Finance-Fiscal Policy. As a Fiscal Affairs Specialist, you will be participating in the development and establishment of broad policies, objectives, procedures, and plans for the many and varied activities of the Fiscal Service, including the regulator/ and legislative initiatives of the Fiscal Service.
Duties
As a Fiscal Affairs Specialist, you will:
-Provide staff support to the Deputy Assistant Secretary (DAS) in all areas of his/her responsibilities.
-Serve as a liaison between Office of the Fiscal Assistant Secretary (OFAS), the Bureau, and other departmental offices.
-Represent OFAS at meetings, on tasks forces and working groups as directed by the DAS (Fiscal Operations and Policy).
-Review and comment on legislation and regulations relevant to the Fiscal Service.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized experience: For the GS-14, you must have one (1) year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service.
Specialized experience includes conducting in-depth analysis in order to provide guidance and feedback to stakeholders regarding fiscal policies, operations, inquiries and correspondence.
Examples of such experience could include:
- Presenting findings to stakeholders through written products and oral briefings; OR
- Providing information and guidance on matters that may result in new or revised policy; OR
- Providing updates to senior officials on progress, issues, or statuses of projects; OR
- Developing, preparing, and producing policy statements, written materials, including briefing or issue papers, and memoranda for senior officials.
The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. TIME-IN-GRADE: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-14, you must have been at the GS-13 level for 52 weeks.
TIME AFTER COMPETITIVE APPOINTMENT: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
