This position is located in the Office of the General Counsel, Legal Division, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and may provide support to the General Counsel or a Deputy General Counsel by performing a variety of administrative and analytical duties that are essential for effective and efficient operations. Additional selections may be made from this vacancy announcement to fill identical vacancies that occur subsequent to this announcement.

Qualifications

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Additional qualifications information can be found here. CG-11: To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the CG-9 grade level or above in the Federal service.  Specialized experience is defined as experience in at least four of the following: (1) coordinating schedules of junior level staff to ensure office coverage; (2) assigning administrative work to junior level staff; (3) managing and coordinating a meeting calendar for a manager; (4) completing travel planning tasks for a manager; (5) reviewing incoming and outgoing correspondence; (6) procuring and maintaining office supply inventories; and (7) completing timekeeper duties for an office or unit. OR  Education: A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M, if related. OR Combination of education and experience that meet the requirements for the CG-11: A combination of graduate level education as described above, beyond the second full year of graduate education, and specialized experience as described above that together meet the qualification requirements for this position. CG-12: To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the CG-11 grade level or above in the Federal service.  Specialized experience is defined as experience in at least five of the following: (1) oversees front office activities that include coordinating schedules and assigning administrative work to junior level staff; (2) managing and coordinating meeting calendars for multiple managers; (3) completing travel planning tasks for multiple managers; (4) drafting or editing executive correspondence; (5) gathering data for producing reports and briefing documents; (6) maintaining electronic files and records system; and (7) completing timekeeper duties for an office or unit. There is no substitution of education for the experience for CG-12 grade level. Applicants must have met the qualification requirements (including selective placement factors – if any) for this position within 30 calendar days of the closing date of this announcement.
