About the Position: The Academic Records Management Specialist will serve under the Director of Academic Affairs at the Defense Language Institute, Foreign Language Center (DLIFLC). The mission of the DLIFLC is to educate, sustain, evaluate, and support foreign language specialists under the guidelines of the Defense Foreign Language Program, which provides the Department of Defense and other Federal agencies with linguists fully capable of supporting United States national interest worldwide.
Duties
Write queries in the Structured Query Language (SQL) to extract data from databases.
Modify interfaces between student databases and programming languages.
Prepare reports or graphs to share staffing or enrollment data.
Utilize a Table of Distributions and Allowances (TDA) to manage personnel allocations.
Provide technical input on information systems training requirements.
Perform quality control for a student database.
Prepare correspondence to present findings or recommendations regarding hiring actions.
Evaluate data to estimate progress in meeting staffing or enrollment milestones.

One year of specialized experience which includes: 1.) creating staffing models and personnel support requirements using an organization's Table of Allowance (TDA); 2.) conducting studies of work processes and administrative operations to track trends and identify improvements; 3.) database management; 4.) writing database queries in Structured Query Language (SQL) to extract and manipulate data and 5.) maintaining academic records. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Desired but not required: Knowledge of higher-level programming languages are Visual Basic, SQL, and other database interface tools.

GS-12 - Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). To be referred, applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade and qualification requirements within 30 days from the date the referral list is issued.
