About the Position: Serves as Chief of Operations and Security Division in the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations (DCSOPS) office, Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center (DLIFLC), responsible for planning, managing, and directing a staff engaged in operation support management and security support operations.

Duties

Serves as Chief of Operations and Security (S2 / 3 / Antiterrorism Force Protection (ATFP)) in the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations (DCSOPS) office, Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center (DLIFLC). Responsible for the synchronization of all Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center activities in support of operational and security requirements Represents the DCSOPS at conferences and meetings related to the resolution of and equities. Design and conduct studies, identify possible problem areas and propose solutions. Interpret and develop implementing instructions, policies and procedures of the organization. Develops, analyzes and evaluates plans, operations, programs, policies and procedures to ensure compliance to military operational standards. Responsible for Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center's Operations Security (OPSEC) programs. Produces, monitors, and refines DLIFLC's Operational Plan (OPLAN), Operation Orders (OPORDs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other documents required for the implementation of Emergency Operations and Continuity of Operations Plans. Remains informed of military, political-military, and technical developments within Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center in order to conduct effective, time sensitive operations. Oversees Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center's requirements for Emergency Readiness Exercises and works in conjunction with the United States Army Garrison Presidio of Monterey (USAG PoM) for AT/FP related exercises. Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work. Supervises and manages personnel assigned to the Security Office. Initiate/ensure effective communication, coordination and follow-up actions with subordinate elements, higher headquarters (United States Army Intelligence Center of Excellence G2/3 and Training and Doctrine Command), and other services.

Requirements

  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
  • Position is covered by the civilian drug abuse testing program governed by AR 600-85, The Army Substance Abuse Program. Pre-employment drug test is required, random drug testing thereafter. Incumbent is required to sign DA Form 5019.
  • Selectee may be required to complete a one year supervisory probationary period unless previously completed.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-12.
