Duties
As a/an Data Systems Administrator, you will:
Be knowledgeable of SNAPS management information systems, including competition systems and previous SNAPS databases. The incumbent must be familiar with the basic operating procedures of SNAPS grant programs to be able to identify program area data needs and proper techniques for meeting these needs.
Be knowledgeable of the rapid changes in information technology and be familiar with the Department's Enterprise IT Architecture.
Work under general direction of the Director and receives general guidance as to the objectives and resources for the work to be performed. The incumbent and the supervisor, in consultation, develop deadlines and identify the work to be done.
Suggest new systems concepts, for ingenuity in design, direction in the conduct of analyses, correctness of the techniques employed, and soundness in interpretation of results. Substantial complexity is involved in assessing, understanding and addressing the technical data needs of the office.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience: For the GS-14 grade level, you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:
-Providing technical advice and guidance on data processing projects and software issues affecting the program office; AND
-Conducting analysis of systems to determine the nature of system requirements and whether or not new systems or enhancements should be developed; AND
-Developing and implementing data processing methods and techniques which are utilized in management information activities.
Experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Time-in-Grade: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-14 you must have been at the GS-13 level for 52 weeks.
Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
