About the Position: Fort Stewart/Hunter AAF is a southern living station of choice with great climate, easy commuting, no parking fees, good schools, and many surrounding historic sites. Fort Stewart is located approximately 42 miles from Savannah Georgia, one of America's most picturesque and historically rich cities.
Duties
Develops and publicizes information about the seriousness of child abuse and spouse maltreatment, procedures for reporting all incidents of child or spouse maltreatment, and available services.
Coordinate and direct Family Advocacy Program family violence prevention training for the Installation.
Plans, develops, executes, evaluates, and modifies a training program designed to provide MWR, ACS, and First Responders with information and guidance regarding FAP program procedures and policies to enhance their knowledge and skills.
Provides specialized FAP knowledge and technical guidance to the MWR, ACS, First Responder staff and major subordinate commands in preventing and addressing incidents of Child Abuse/Neglect and Spouse Abuse.
Represents the Garrison at conferences, board meetings, committee meetings, and DOD meetings.
Participates in training conferences and workshops to keep abreast of current professional knowledge and skills relating to the development, management, and implementation of FAP programs

Basic Requirement for Family Advocacy Program Specialist:
A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position, such as Human Services, Psychology, Behavioral Science.
OR
B. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
OR
C. Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assist in developing information about child abuse and/or spouse maltreatment; providing training to community members regarding social service programs and initiatives; and assist in planning an education and awareness program. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
OR
Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: [insert applicable field(s) of study].
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
