Duties

Identify problems within the mail flow. Review records to ensure that Activity Mail Managers (AMM) are appointed in the various activities and are trained to execute assigned responsibilities. Educate organizational mail and distribution personnel by arranging and conducting training classes. Ensure funds are available for the mail machine and the Enterprise Payment System (EPS) account. Monitor local mailings daily for compliance with regulations. Account for official mail funds per Army and Directorate of Resource Management regulations, policies, and procedures. Help the Mail Manager develop procedures for processing all incoming and outgoing official mail, accountable mail, courier, and express mail. Assist with the production and review of the Department of Defense (DoD) Expenditure Report and Automated Military Postal System, on a quarterly basis.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • The incumbent of this position will be required to pass a pre-employment physical examination and subsequent annual medical examinations.
  • Employee must obtain and maintain a valid, current state driver's license in order to operate a motor vehicle to transport mail.
  • Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) is occasionally required.
  • The incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
  • On a recurring basis there are periods of standing, walking, bending, and carrying moderate loads over 50 lbs., such as boxes, bins, or pouches of mail. Boxes likely include printed doctrine material that exceeds 70 pounds.

Current Civilian Employees of the Organization In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Ensuring mail is assembled, addressed, sealed, and typed in accordance with regulations.; 2) Contacting originating office to resolve errors or discrepancies.; AND 3) Processing incoming and outgoing accountable mail (e.g., registered, certified, insured, and express mail). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: ClericalCustomer Service (Clerical/Technical)Manages ResourcesTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
