These are TEMPORARY SUMMER HIRE POSITIONS not to exceed September 30, 2024. Employment dates are approximately JUNE through SEPTEMBER. Actual length of employment is contingent upon budget and workload. In some cases, the appointments may be extended in 120-day increments without further competition.

Duties
As a Student Trainee, you will actively participate in on-the-job training, progressively challenging assignments, and career enhancing opportunities that relate to the needs of the agency.
Works in a warehouse environment. Physically de-packs, packs, or repacks material. Stacks and un-stacks material on pallets and conveyors.
Physically loads/unloads heavy boxes, cartons, pallets, and other material to/from trucks, sea vans, roller lines, conveyors, etc. Operates equipment with basic start/stop controls.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and at least 16 years of age.
- Must be accepted for enrollment or enrolled and seeking a degree or certificate.
- Must be taking at least half-time course load, as defined by your school.
- Remain in good academic standing in accordance with Participant Agreement.
- Selective Service Requirements: Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
- Transcript must state major, earned credit hours, and cumulative GPA. FAILURE TO SUBMIT TRANSCRIPTS WILL RESULT IN REMOVAL FROM CONSIDERATION.

Qualifications
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Students must be a citizen of the United States or lawfully admitted to the United States as a permanent resident or otherwise authorized to be employed.
Current students enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited high school, college (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, and trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate. Students must be taking at least half-time course load, as defined by your school and remain in good academic standing in accordance with the Pathways Participant Agreement.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Applicants will be rated in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standard for Trades and Labor Occupations. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties at the level for which you are applying. Emphasis is placed on how you gained the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time, and the required ability or potential to perform the job. Applicants who do not meet the screen-out element (SOE) will be eliminated from further competition. The SOE and minimum qualifications for this position is:
The ability to perform the tasks of this position under supervision, such as: packing, repacking and stacking material; operating basic start/stop equipment; manually or with the aid of hand trucks/dollies moves large, bulky, heavy containers from one area to another.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
**You MUST provide transcripts or other documentation to support your educational claims. Your transcripts must indicate a passing grade to be creditable towards the required hours. Unless otherwise stated, unofficial transcripts are acceptable at time of application.
GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours that your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
