Duties

You will perform non-supervisory work that primarily requires physical effort and ability to perform laboring duties that involve little or no specialized skill or prior work experience. You will dig ditches and trenches with pick and shovel with responsibility for maintaining slope and grade. You will break up pavement and similar hard material with jackhammers. You will push heavy wheelbarrow loads of asphalt, hot mix, concrete mix, gravel and similar material. You will perform chipping and scaling of paint and rust from structures using pneumatic tools. You will assist Journeyman in other shops in roofing, plumbing. cement electrical, and hazardous materials work when required.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to comply with all safety rules and regulation including the wearing of safety hats, shoes, eye protective glasses and in some cases, face shields, and ear plugs.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the WG-03 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Cleaned work sites after projects are completed; recognized and properly reported discrepancies; and used hand tools such as, drills, impact wrenches, portable pumps, shovels, rakes, general garden tools, and other power tools. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
