This position is located in the Grounds and Waste Management Section of Environmental Management Service. The incumbent performs ground maintenance to the landscaped areas and overall campus at VA San Diego Healthcare System (VASDHS).
Duties
Major Duties include but are not limited to:
Work which requires mainly physical abilities and effort in doing laboring duties including: digging trenches, and/or ditches; mowing lawns; picking up of litter and trash, raking, sweeping, pruning and trimming trees and scrubs, and other manual labor tasks involving grounds maintenance or clean-up operations.
Implement the use of rakes, hoes, shovels, picks, brooms, and other simple tools or equipment, etc.
Required to use (safely manner) powered equipment such as lawnmowers, edge cutters, weed eaters, and leaf blowers, etc.
Responsible for maintenance of wellness garden and interior plants. Providing proper care, watering and fertilization, etc.
Will be called upon to perform Waste Disposal responsibilities as needed.

Physical Requirements: Frequently lifts and carries objects weighing from 10 to 20 pounds. Occasional lifting and carrying of
objects weighing up to 50 pounds will be required of incumbent. Required to endure much standing,
walking, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and other laboring bodily movements throughout assigned
grounds tasks.
