This position is in the Department of Labor (DOL), Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), Office of Standards, Regulations and Variances (OSRV), Regulatory Development Division. This position is inside the bargaining unit.

Duties

For GS-14:

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Requires a probationary period if the requirement has not been met.
  • Candidate required to obtain the necessary security/investigation level.

Qualifications

You must meet the Specialized Experience to qualify for Regulatory Specialist, as described below. Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, GS-13 in the Federal Service. Specialized Experience is the experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform the duties of the position successfully, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Qualifying specialized experience for GS-14 includes meeting ALL of the following: Demonstrated experience developing proposed regulations, position papers, and/or policy guidance, that are consistent with the agency's goals. Experience conducting research and determining if new regulations or guidance is required to increase the effectiveness of policies and/or programs. Experience preparing technically authoritative responses to various written and oral inquiries. Demonstrated experience serving on multi-disciplinary teams developing standards/regulations, policies, guidelines, or other public documents.

Education

There is no substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience at the GS-14 grade level.
