About the Position: The Budget Analyst position is located at the United States Air Force Academy, duty location Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Duties

Performs budget execution and administration work involving the monitoring of obligations incurred and the actual expenditures of a budget with different sources and types of funding. Conducts analyses, reviews, and special studies of budget and/or related information. Researches, compiles, and summarizes data involving obligations, expenses, and object class/line item information, narrative information, and quantitative budgetary data for use in preparing budget estimates. Conducts training on budget processes, procedures, requirements, etc. Advises and provides counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management. Uses automated budgetary system(s) and computer-generated products in accomplishing budgeting assignments. Develops recommendations for budgetary adjustments to support unanticipated changes in program operations and/or funding. Provides advice, assistance, and guidance on budgeting and related information.

Requirements

  • Position requires Financial Disclosure Report (OGE 450).
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Must be able to obtain and maintain a T1 security clearance.
  • Certification Level 2: FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT Level 2 Certified position designated in accordance with the National Defense Authorization Act
  • (NDAA) 2012, Public Law 112-81, Subtitle F-Financial Management, section 1051, amending 10 United States Code, section 1599d.
  • Immunization screening may be required.
  • This position is eligible for situational tele-work.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 assisting with technical work in the area of budget and execution, accounting, or related fields; utilizing automated accounting systems; assisting with development of an organizational budget; and experience with basic administrative office procedures. OR EDUCATION: I have successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related discipline appropriate to the position. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: I have the specialized experience as described in A, but less than one year; and I have at least two years of graduate education as described in B, but less than the required three years. I have computed the percentage of the requirements that I meet, and the total is at least 100% (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.). (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
