About the Position: This position will be located in the Directorate of RM Medical Logistics at the 375TH MDG, Scott AFB, IL. Advance in Hire/Leave Accrual may be authorized

Duties

Work in the field and in the shop installing, troubleshooting and calibrating locking devices to required tolerance. Adjust wood or metal doors in order to allow proper functioning of door locking devices. Program lock timing devices as required. Determine if item should be replaced rather than repaired depending upon amount of wear and tolerance deviation creating weaknesses that could compromise security. Provide response to routine and emergency lock issues.

Requirements

  • Appointment to this position is subject to a Tier 1 background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a two year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Working under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Frequently handles objects weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally heavier. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed inside in generally well lighted, heated and ventilated areas. Outside work is frequently performed in doorways exposed to various types of weather. Exposed to dirt, grease, excessive noise, cuts, bruises, eye and back strains and the possibility of more serious injuries from power tools and burns from brazing and welding equipment. May be exposed to lead paint or asbestos and may be required to wear protective safety clothing and equipment.
