This National Guard position is for a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC SUPERVISOR T32, Position Description Number PDD1290000 and is part of the AZ CSMS, Combined Support Maintenance Shop, National Guard.
Duties
This position is located in Phoenix, Arizona with the CSMS. The purpose of this position is to supervise workers directly or through subordinate leaders and/or supervisors in accomplishing work of the function. Plans work operations of great scope, complexity, and administrative authority. Determines the sequence, priority, and time for performance of operations within the limits of broad work schedules and time limits. The occupation and non-supervisory grade level which best reflects the nature of the overall work operations supervised is Surface Maintenance Mechanic, WG-5801-10.

Requirements
- ARIZONA ARMY NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. Prior to appointment into this position, selectee must be a current member of the Arizona Army National Guard, in a military organization supported by the CSMS.
- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
- Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
- Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
- Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
- Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
- Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
- Must be able to maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
- Irregular (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
- Applicants must be able to gain and maintain access to all required systems and the AZ-ARNG network.
- Incumbent must have a valid state driver’s license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.
- Selectee, if WOC, must be appointed to WO1 before appointment to this position and within 90 days of selection.
Qualifications
Military Grades: WOC, WO1/W1 - CW3/W3
Compatible Military Assignments: Possess the MOS of 91, 92, 94 or 882A
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates that the candidate has the ability to organize assignments for subordinates, estimate material and manpower needed for specific jobs; able to explain manuals and work procedures; and to prepare production records, work records and reports.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess at least 36 months experience as a supervisor, work leader, or inspector for maintenance operations with commensurate level knowledge and experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel. Experience which has provided a thorough knowledge of diagnostic equipment. Experience applying independent judgment in determining methods and techniques required to solve unusually complex maintenance and repair problems. Experienced in testing, inspecting, and evaluating the work performed on vehicles, equipment, and systems. Experience which required the review of work requirements, quality inspections, and establish priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations. Experience in setting and enforcing performance standards and making formal appraisals of subordinate work performance. Experience or training diagnosing, repairing, overhauling, and modifying more complex vehicles, equipment, and more complicated systems.
