This is a time-limited position in the Office of Director (OD) in the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). The incumbent serves as the Special Assistant within the Office of the Director's Front Office and will provide administrative and managerial support activities contributing to the effective and efficient operation of the Office.

Duties

The following are the duties of this position at the CN-51, broadly equivalent to the GS-11. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For the CN-51, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the CN-40 grade level in the Federal service. (For qualification purposes, the CN-40 is broadly equivalent to the GS-9). Specialized Experience for this position includes: Experience screening an Executive's emails for action and arranging for the development of briefing materials, talking points, or executive summaries; AND Experience collecting, compiling, or tracking data in support of office operations; AND Experience using office automation software programs to produce documents such as: reports, spreadsheets, databases, or graphs. OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related. OR Combination: You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the specialized experience requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the education requirement must equal at least 100 percent. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 36 semester hours (54 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education. AND Candidates must also complete the simulation exercise and be scored by the SMEs at or above the passing grade of 5.6 out of 14. For the CN-40, you must have one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower band/grade (CN-30, GS-7 or equivalent) in the Federal service. For this position, specialized experience is: Experience arranging conferences and/or meetings or making travel arrangements for an Executive; AND Experience tracking data in support of office operations; AND Experience using office automation software programs to produce documents such as: reports, spreadsheets, databases, or graphs. OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. OR Combination: You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the specialized experience requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the education requirement must equal at least 100 percent. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 36 semester hours (54 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education. AND Candidates must also complete the simulation exercise and be scored by the SMEs at or above the passing grade of 4.2 out of 14. The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
