The PMRS Gerofit Program's goal are to increase the basic knowledge of aging, transmit this knowledge to health care providers, and improve the quality care delivered to elders. The position's primary purpose is to oversee the program, lead the program activities, and provide scientific, clinical, and technical knowledge and support to the Gerofit Program.
Duties
DUTIES:
Program Management
Conducts and manages an exercise program tailored to individual patients through consideration of age, health conditions, and physical functioning.
Plans and sustains a catalog on exercise regimen protocols, the field of aging, exercise, and functional decline.
Acts as Program Manager for Gerofit and clinical project(s) and directs and participates in the team activities. Manages communications and changes to the scope, direction, and processes of assigned projects with patients with specialized injuries and mobility challenges.
Organizes data collection and management processes. Assures compliance with standard operating procedures and policy and procedural requirements.
Develops follow-up procedures to monitor participant progress. Establishes, coordinates, monitors, and manages outcome-based assessments.
Data Management
Implements adjustments and/or data abstraction, collection, and management procedures. Gathers statistical and narrative data on program status, including resource utilization, participation rates, and adherence to exercise protocols.
Organizes data, statistical analysis and data utilization, and summarizes the research data.
Develops operational guidelines, defining systems and procedures to follow for optimal operation of the complex changes to individualized patient exercise plans for increased mobility and improved health.
Arranges and conducts literature searches required for projects. Conducts audits of project records for compliance with applicable federal rules and regulations.
Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 03/14/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-11 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-9. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify GS-11 based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-07)in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: developing, designing, and conducting an exercise program tailored to individual patients taking into consideration their age, health conditions, and physical functioning; administration of physical performance measures for Gerofit and other clinical and/or future research activities; performs ongoing assessment of Veteran's physical and functional status; maintains a safe working environment performing safety checks, cleaning and stocking equipment. . OR,
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent degree. OR,
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond a Ph.D.

Physical Requirements: Also involves a wide range of physical demands from sedentary work in a standard office setting to moderate to heavy physical demands which include the ability to lead exercise classes, move exercise equipment, and transfer patients in an emergency setting. On occasion, the incumbent will be required to lift over 50 pounds.
