About the Position: Serve as a Supervisor in the Hot Metals units exercising full supervisory responsibility over work operations involving approximately 15 employees.

Duties

Supervise the duties and functions of trades and craft workers in a manufacturing environment. Establish deadlines and priorities. Explain work requirements, methods, and procedures. Instruct employees on new work procedures. Review work in progress, and on completion, for accuracy. Coordinate work with other branches/directorates, as required, to ensure smooth operations.

• One-year supervisory probationary period required. A one-year probationary period is required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement.
• Subject to pre-employment and annual physical examination.
• This position requires handling of hazardous waste.

• Employee is able to respond effectively to emergencies by familiarizing them with routine and emergency procedures, emergency equipment, and emergency systems, including where applicable procedures for shutdown of operations.

Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading)Ability To Lead or SuperviseKnowledge of MetalsTechnical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Physical Efforts: NONE Working Conditions: Work is usually performed in a well- lighted, heated, and ventilated area. However, the supervisor will be required to visit work sites, where the supervisor will be subject to extreme high temperatures, noise, dirt, burns, cuts, bruises, and possible injuries. Will be required to wear safety glasses, safety shoes, gloves, hearing protection, and possibility heat protective clothing. Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed (NTE) 1 year by a current permanent Army employee. Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years, however return rights may be impacted. Position may be made permanent without further competition.
