The primary purpose of this position is to perform clerical/administrative support to the School Age Program and will be responsible for ensuring proper business practices are followed. May also be required to work in Youth Center overseeing Youths (as assigned) by providing children with safe, healthy, and developmentally appropriate care.
Duties
Receive and direct telephone calls or visitors; refers telephone callers and visitors to appropriate staff or office.
Perform routine, miscellaneous clerical work, i.e., distribute mail, answer telephone, maintain files/office forms and inventory/order supplies.
Enroll children into appropriate child development program ensuring all required paperwork is completed and received, Assist parents with completion of required forms.
Monitor from workstation through closed-circuit surveillance cameras all activities of children and staff while in classrooms and center, and notes any discrepancies in accordance with Child Abuse procedures.
Assists in the classrooms during periods of staff shortage and staff breaks as needed.

- This is a designated drug testing position. The incumbent will be subjected to drug testing.
- Employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, to include evenings, weekends and/or holidays
- Must complete additional training requirements to include Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, First Aid, rescue breathing, and food handlers; training may be conducted during evening and weekend hours.

- This is a Mission Essential (ME) position performing a Mission Critical Function (MCF) which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 level (or equivalent in other pay systems) in the federal service in which equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized experience is experience which includes performing general office administrative and clerical procedures i.e., distribute mail, answer telephone, maintain files/office forms and inventory/order supplies; knowledge of various word processing automation software functions to support office operations and produce a variety of textual documents such as letters, response memos, and form letters.

EDUCATION: Successful completion of four years above high school level education in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. NOTE: YOU MUST SUBMIT COPIES OF YOUR TRANSCRIPTS.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100 percent. To combine education and experience, determine the total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level. Then determine the education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level. Finally, add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for that grade level. NOTE: YOU MUST SUBMIT A COPY OF YOUR TRANSCRIPT.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Working knowledge of general office administrative and clerical procedures i.e., distribute mail, answer telephone, maintain files/office forms and inventory/order supplies.
2. Ability to learn organization's functions and/or procedures; ability to communicate effectively orally using tact and courtesy.
3. Ability to read and interpret specific procedural guidelines pertaining to administrative support, including locally developed equipment and document processing instructions, which are directly applicable to the work.
4. Knowledge of rules, procedures, or operations applied to secretarial and clerical assignment to perform the routine, procedural work of the office, such as preparing and editing documents, and maintaining files/records; Skill in typing; a qualified typist is required.
5. Knowledge of correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and format to accurately prepare and edit written correspondence and reports.
6. Knowledge of various word processing automation software functions to support office operations and produce a variety of textual documents such as letters, response memos, and form letters.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is sedentary. May require some walking, standing, bending, carrying and/or lifting of light items like papers or books. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work is performed in a typical office setting, requiring the use of normal safety precautions necessary for an officeenvironment. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
