You will serve as a Psychologist/Social Worker in the Fleet and Family Readiness Division of NSF DAHLGREN.

Duties

You will brief counselors and case managers about the dynamics of family violence (e.g., identification and awareness of early warning signs, abuse detection techniques, preventative measures, crisis response services). You will address counseling and advocacy service inquiries or complaints from an organization, agency, or individual to determine if corrective action is needed. You will assess individual or family needs to provide short-term psychological counseling.

Qualifications

This position has a selective placement factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. The selective placement factor is: This position is a TIER TWO clinical care practitioner. Applicants must meet all of the following requirements as outlined in SECNAVINST 1754.8: 1. Possess at least a masters or doctoral degree in one of the following disciplines: a. Master's degree from a program accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Education Programs (CACREP) or an equivalent degree, OR b. Master's degree from a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE) or an equivalent degree, OR c. Master's degree in Social Work from a graduate school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) or an equivalent degree, OR d. Doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited university or professional school and a one-year APA accredited clinical internship 2. State or U.S. territory license or certification that provides legal authority to provide clinical services as an independent practitioner in the fields of Licensed Professional Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Clinical Social Work, Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology. 3. When the state or U.S. territory licensing or certification requirements include a written examination, candidates for privileging, must have achieved a passing score on that examination. 4. Must have engaged in two years, full-time, post-masters supervised clinical experience. In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Performs clinical management duties, which includes receiving initial reports of suspected child and spouse abuse from military and/or civilian representatives; 2) Provides planning, risk assessments, treatment, and/or education services related to child abuse and spouse abuse; 3) Provides short term, solution focused psychological counseling for individuals, couples, families, and/or groups utilizing outcomes based therapeutic modalities; 4) Facilitates group treatment programs to address the needs of families, such as marital groups, domestic violence offender or victim support groups; 5) Provide crisis intervention and immediate safety planning in response to child and spouse abuse and adult sexual assault reports; 6) Educates and/or provides case specific consultation to military and civilian agencies about counseling services, family maltreatment, safety and risk assessments, clinical issues, treatment, and maltreatment case review processes. For the 0180 series:
Successfully completed all the requirements for a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology.

For the 0185 series:
Successfully completed a degree in social work that fulfills all of the requirements for the master's degree in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
OR
Successfully completed a master's degree in social work with practicum.
