This position is aligned under the Fleet Medicine Directorate in the Zachary and Elizabeth Fischer Medical Clinic, located at the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center (FHCC), North Chicago, Illinois; a 1c complexity facility. The Lovell FHCC is larger than just a single facility, but rather a system of facilities throughout Northeastern Illinois and Wisconsin which provide medical and dental services to U.S. Military Veterans, Recruits, and Active Duty and eligible beneficiaries.
Duties

**note North Chicago Illinois is not within the city or immediate surrounding area of Chicago. Facility is located aprox. 40 miles North of the city of Chicago
Major duties and responsibilities include:
Coordinates and provides administrative support.
Schedules and manages appointments.
Screens calls and visitors to the office, referring to other staff members as appropriate.
Composes and prepares correspondence, forms, letters, memos, and reports.
Schedules conferences, coordinates meetings and prepares meeting minutes.
Maintains office supplies and equipment.
Serves as the timekeeper for the service.
Receives and reviews all incoming correspondence.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. You may qualify at the GS-05 level if you fulfill one of the following qualifications:
-Specialized Experience: One (1) year of specialized experience that equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-4 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes: performing a full range of administrative support for an office; receiving visitors and phone calls; reviewing all incoming and outgoing correspondence; scheduling appointments and meetings; preparing a range of correspondence and reports; and utilizing office automation software such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). -OR-
-Education: Successful completion of four (4) years of education above the high school level in any field. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. One year of full-time undergraduate study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial or technical school. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED) -OR-
-Equivalent combination of education and specialized experience (as described above) to meet the requirements at the GS-5 level. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED)

TYPING PROFICIENCY: This position requires the skills of a qualified typist. In addition to meeting the experience and/or education requirements, you must be able to type at least 40 words per minute.

IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: Work is mostly sedentary and performed inside the clinic. There is some walking, stooping, bending, and lifting of light supply items.
