The position is located In the DoD Medical Operations Division of the Patient Administration DepartmentIn the Resources Directorate located at the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center (FHCC) InNorth Chicago, Illinois. The Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center is larger than just a singlefacility but rather a system of facilities throughout Northeastern Illinois which provide medical anddental services to Veterans, Recruits, Active Duty and eligible beneficiaries.

Duties

The primary, purpose of this Program Support Assistant position is to provide coordination and administrative support for the Temporary Disability Retired List (TDRL) program information to Service members, TDRL retirees, facility staff, local and remote commands and military personnel support offices. The TDRL coordinator ensures procedures and regulations regarding the TDRL program established by the Secretary of the Navy (SECNAV), the Bureau of Naval Military Personnel (BUPERS), U.S. Marine Corps Headquarters (MCHQ), Navy Medical Department (BUMED) and the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center (FHCC) are adhered to. Major Duties: - Receives official notification letters/messages from BUPERS & MCHQ requesting TDRL medical exams. - Sends official notification to TDRL patients & tracks each notification to receipt or unavailability.- Receives successful contact replies from TDRL patients via letter, e-mail and/or telephone and coordinates exams. - Reviews all received case flies to determine the required re-evaluations and develops the case file to send pertinent documentation of past medical exams to providers when requesting exams. - Researches problematic cases as they occur and coordinates with OIF/OEF case managers when necessary.- Maintains database which accurately reflect timely documentation of each case to guarantee careful case management. - Explains program requirements, military personnel actions that will occur upon entering/ending TDRL status, and procedures for making follow-on appointments to all members entered into TDRL. - Registers all patients not currently registered in both CHCS and CPRS via established FHCC patient registration processes.- Prioritizes exam requests with the right of first refusal to FHCC specialty departments.- Provides guidance and interpretations of regulatory requirements to FHCC providers. - Tracks all referrals and exam requests to ensure all are acted upon and booked within established time frames. -Reviews medical Information received to ensure it meets the requirements of the BUPERS requested re-evaluations. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/16/2024. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS- 07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-6 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience typically includes, but is not limited to: knowledge of Department of Defense (DoD), Department of the Navy (DON), and Bureau of Medicine (BUMED), Joint Commission, Veterans Administration (VA) and Federal HIPAA standards, policies and procedures; Knowledge of electronic medical systems/computer information systems/electronic health records for and from the various military and veterans medical systems; Knowledge of the organization, function, and operations of the local command structure, higher echelon commands, and their relationship to other DoD as well as VA agencies, and the private sector as it relates to pertinent health information; Possessing skills necessary to review requisition supporting documents to determine priority. Understanding of established costs accounting procedures related to appropriate funding, allotments, obligations and disbursements. Possessing skills necessary to review requisition supporting documents to determine priority. Knowledge and skills in the use of office automation equipment, such as facsimile machines, word processors, ADP equipment, computer terminals, typewriters, printers, calculators, and copiers. Reviewing final forms of required paperwork using correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: Attention to DetailCustomer Service (Clerical/Technical)Organizational AwarenessPlanning and EvaluatingSelf-ManagementTechnical Competence Preferred Experience Knowledge of the Temporary Disability Retired List (TDRL) and the regulations concerning DOD Medical Operations Division and experienced in programs or services associated with the Patient Admiration Department. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary in nature and predominantly involves significant time (4 or more hours daily) of office automation tasks; incumbent will be required to walk to various clinics several times daily (usually at least two). Incumbent works within a healthcare facility and limited risks to contagious illness exist. Immunity to common infectious diseases may be screened and immunizations may be provided If required.
