This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Office of the Chief Readiness Support Officer.
The primary purpose of this position is to provide a variety of architectural design and engineering support services for planning, design and construction of Headquarters facilities.
Non-BU: This is a non-bargaining unit position.
Duties
As a Architect, GS-0808-14, your typical work assignments may include:
Keeping Contracting Officer informed on progress, proposed contract modifications, validity of claims, analysis of proposals, and
assessment of time extensions.
Planning and evaluating buildings, infrastructure, equipment, components, or systems where critical problems need to be resolved.
Synthesizing new approaches to problems of establishing adequate research and development programs.
Leading qualitative studies and provides analyses of design and construction issues.
Evaluating, coordinating, monitoring, and performing systems analysis of facilities, systems, equipment, and operations.

Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
1. Degree: architecture; or related field that included 60 semester hours of course work in architecture or related disciplines of which at least (1) 30 semester hours were in architectural design, and (2) 6 semester hours were in each of the following: structural technology, properties of materials and methods of construction, and environmental control systems.
OR
2. Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the arts and sciences underlying professional architecture, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the architecture principles, methods, and techniques and their applications to the design to the design and construction or improvement of buildings. The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by at least one of the following:
1. Related curriculum: Degree in architectural engineering may be accepted as satisfying in full the basic requirements, provided the completed course work in architectural engineering proved knowledge, skills, and abilities substantially equivalent to those provided in the courses specified in paragraph A.
2. Experience: 1 year of experience in an architect's office or in architectural work for each year short of graduation from a program of study in architecture. In the absence of college courses, 5 years of such experience is required. This experience must have demonstrated that you have acquired a thorough knowledge of the fundamental principles and theories of professional architecture
In addition to meeting the base basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience:
You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal government, performing duties such as:
Directing and managing significant elements or phases of projects related to major organizational functions, programs, and projects.
Providing design and engineering analysis for special projects, future projects, and in advance planning of new systems and capabilities.
Developing, reviewing, and providing recommendations for proposed project requirements, expected results and budgetary estimates.
A writing sample is required. Please answer the following questions and attach with your other documents.
1. Summarize your experience as an Architect. Please include some example projects with a focus on Federal Government projects, what was your role in the projects, and the magnitude of the projects?
2. How do you believe a tenant's program of requirements (POR) should be developed to ensure an optimal balance between tenant-provided requirements and utilization data in the design and optimization of spaces?
3. As we shift to the endemic phase of COVID- 19, what are some of the workspace changes and potential solutions that you have seen or implemented?

Time-in-grade: Current General Schedule (GS) federal employees, and those that have served in GS positions within the last 52 weeks, must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade, or a combination of the next lower grade level and an equivalent band in the federal service by
