As a Supervisory Architect, you will collaborate with the Chief Architect to ensure that performance objectives of the Office for efficiency, effectiveness, and quality are achieved in support of GSA' s nationwide design and construction program.
Location of position: (PBS), Office of Architecture & Engineering (OAE)We are currently filling one vacancy, but additional vacancies may be filled as needed.
Duties
Provides visionary, national leadership and high level technical policy direction for the agency regarding design quality and innovation, design excellence, and cost effectiveness in Federal design.
Develops and oversees implementation of broad national design program objectives, and provides advice and consultant support regarding architecture and design issues to senior GSA officials, GSA regional management officials, executive branch agencies, and the judiciary.
Responsible for ensuring innovation, development, and leadership of critical design programs that will promote the integrity of public architecture, elevate and continually enhance its quality, meet the needs of Federal customers, and provide outstanding value to the American taxpayer.
Directly supervises a staff of professional, technical and clerical associates through subordinate supervisor(s). In coordination with the Chief Architect, plans and schedules design related work in the Office of the Chief Architect; makes assignments to subordinates based on priorities; consideration of the difficulty and requirements of the work; and the capabilities of the associates. Reviews and accepts, or amends or rejects their work.
Assures that the Chief Architect's design program goals, objectives, policies, programs, activities, and initiatives are executed to support successful delivery of the PBS capital design and construction program within congressionally funded project scope and budget parameters.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS FOR ARCHITECTS: A Degree in architecture or related field; OR a combination of college-level education, training, and/or technical experience. For specifics on qualifying education, training, and/or experience - use the following link: Basic Requirements for Architect Positions.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: In addition to the Basic Requirements listed above, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 in the Federal service.
Specialized experience is professional work in the design and/or project management of major architectural projects (including representation of either owner or tenant in the execution of major large-scale architectural projects, or design management of a multi-project building program); developing and implementing policy and procedures, including analyzing and monitoring programs or policies; presenting complex issues and providing recommendations to senior management and developing and maintaining a system of management and internal controls.
