Serve as the Assistant Trainer within the the Health Administration Service at the VA Caribbean Healthcare System at the San Juan VA medical center.

Duties

Major duties include but aren't limited to: Supporting the Service Trainer in maintaining program requirements/validation criteria. Offering individualized support to participants during practical exercises and activities. Analyzing data and identifying trends and concern or issues. Collaborating with composition of memorandums and bulletins as needed, to support department goals. Assisting the trainer in composing the annual HAS Service Briefing for presentation to executive leadership. Completing tasks assigned by Trainer needed to make position management recommendations. Work Schedule: M-F 7:30 am-4:00 pm Virtual: This is not a virtual position. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 03/13/2024. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. The position requires proficiency in written and spoken English and spoken Spanish. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized experience: Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Creating training materials; coordinating training schedules, venues, and logistics; maintaining training records, evaluations, and feedback; evaluating assigned operations; analyzing workload. OR Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have 1 full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement. Superior academic achievement is the completion of all the requirements of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, which is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average of 3.0 or higher as recorded on an official transcript, or as based on courses completed during the final two years of the curriculum, or (3) honor society membership (transcripts required). NOTE: Transcripts (unofficial or official) must be submitted with your application materials. Education cannot be credited without documentation. OR Combination of Experience & Education: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an appropriate combination of specialized experience and graduate-level education. NOTE: Transcripts (unofficial or official) must be submitted with your application materials. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: Analytical ReasoningCommunicationEmployee Development Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: No special physical exertion is required. The work is primarily performed while sitting, though some work may require periods of standing. The regular and recurring work of the position requires sitting at a desk, conferences, meetings, etc., and visits to activity work sites. Occasional use of automobile may be required. There are periods of walking within the facility to obtain records and information; standing to make copies of various documents; light carrying of medical records, manuals, or books; and crouching/ bending to file and access records and documents. Must have adequate eyesight and hand dexterity to allow for the reading and operating of a personal computer.
