This position is part of the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy - Headquarters, Department of Energy. As a Senior Advisor, Environmental Justice, you will be serving as Energy Equity and Environmental Justice team lead and part of the Integrated Strategies Leadership Team. Coordinating work assignments and providing policy advice, support, assistance to senior staff.

Duties

As a Senior Advisor, Environmental Justice, you will: Provide policy advice, support, and assistance to senior staff. Collect data, develops reports, and supports or delivers briefings for Department of Energy Senior leaders, as well as Congress/Senators and staff on related programs and projects. Advise program offices on best practices to implement Executive Orders. Direct and lead internal team, which will implement cross efforts focused on energy justice and serve as a coordination platform. Serve as team lead. Coordinates, assigns and delegates tasks to staff, contractors, and Fellows. Provide advice and guidance to team. Oversee the development and execution of a small number of high-impact programs as well as engaging with colleagues across the organization. Develop and executes Energy Equity and Environmental Justice (EEEJ) - related programs within Integrated Strategies, including developing future year programs and budget justifications.

  • This position is NOT REMOTE eligible - duty location is Washington, DC.

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-14 in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting ALL of the following Advising senior leaders on management and administrative issues; Conducting research-based recommendations that impact, interpret , or develop policies or programs; and Administering regulatory and compliance programs to apply program evaluation and measurement techniques. "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. CTAP/ICTAP candidates: To be considered "well qualified" you must (1) meet all of the requirements as described in this section; and 2) be rated "well-qualified", which is defined as scoring in the in Well Qualified category (or higher). You must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
