The Supervisory DRT (CT) will be tasked with maintaining efficient workflow in the CT department; distributes workload and assignments to CT staff, ensuring timely completion of required duties. Skilled in problem solving and conflict resolution. Analyzes organizational, technical, and administrative problems and develops/implements solutions that result in efficient section operation. Consults with the Chief Technologist of problems that arise and makes recommendations for a solution.
Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
Incumbent receives general instructions from the Chief Technologist or Service Chief verbally, by memorandum, or through meetings. The incumbent is expected to function independently within the scope of assignment. The working relationship is dependent upon the incumbent maintaining high levels of communication, recognizing and offering solutions for any problems which may bear upon the effectiveness of the sections.
Perform clinical CT support as well as supervise the technologists to perform routine and specialized radiologic procedures, to maintain and improve the quality of current radiologic procedures, to develop new methods in response to medical center needs, and to administer the technical areas to provide efficient service and timely accurate results.
Makes work assignments in the CT service based on workload, urgency of need, availability of equipment, and level of staff training.
He/she/they are also has the responsibility for instructing technologist trainees and resident physicians in the theory and practice of computed tomography procedures to include quality control.
Plan training of new employees to the unit and if new to the Service provide orientation to policies and procedures of the Service and document training and orientation to the Administrative Officer.
Plans requests for Personnel Action, writes functional statements and performance plans, interviews applicants, approves leave, counsels staff on performance evaluation and grievances, and initiates disciplinary action.
Reviews equipment needs, evaluates equipment from vendors, provides recommendations on equipment, as well as plans the integration of new equipment into operation.
Writes and reviews methods and instructions in the Policy/Procedure Manual.
Coordinate with representatives of other units matters concerning work accomplishment, priorities and procedures.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8am-4:30pm
*This Position supports 24/7 operations throughout the calendar year. Work is typically performed on the day shift; however, candidate may be subject to overtime work, shift work, and/or work on rotating shifts to include evenings, weekends, and holidays. Subject to call back outside tour of duty.

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
English Language Proficiency. DRTs must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), and 7407(d).
Certification: Advanced ARRT certification is required for assignments that include computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), [or Mammography (M) duties performed independently, as applicable]. Advanced certification indicates that the incumbent [can operate independently] and has demonstrated specific clinical competency in the appropriate specialty and taken and passed the designated examination.
Education. Completion of a full-time training course of at least 24 months in duration (or the equivalent) in a post-high school diagnostic radiologic technology program, evidenced by a certificate or an associate degree, accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or from [other accrediting agencies as recognized by the Department of Education (DOE).]
Experience. At least one year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level directly related to the position being filled that demonstrates the clinical competencies needed to provide services as a supervisory radiologic technologist.
Grade Determinations: Must have at least 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level of GS-9.
The candidate must demonstrate all of the following technical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to analyze organizational, technical, and administrative problems and to develop and implement solutions that result in efficient section operation.
Ability to evaluate quality management procedures and processes.
Ability to analyze and use data effectively to manage workload, quality, performance, and productivity.
Skill in developing new policies and guidelines as needed.
Skill in problem solving and conflict resolution.
Preferred Experience: Advanced certification in CT, at least 3 years experience in CT imaging.
