This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration, National Personnel Records Center. Under the supervision of a senior management analyst, the incumbent performs research and analytical evaluations associated with providing support to the Management Systems Staff and administrative support functions.
Duties
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-06. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
As a MANAGEMENT ASSISTANT (OFFICE AUTOMATION), you will:
Perform various assignments requiring fact-gathering and compilation of statistical data
Review products to ensure that required information is properly recorded and accurate
Identify unexpected trends or errors and discuss problem areas with supervisor, requesting officials, or system / service providers
Provide administrative support by preparing memoranda and study reports to include related visual media in support of management studies, surveys, or required statistical reports
The incumbent may be directed to maintain time and attendance records for Management Systems Staff and the Headquarters sections
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For the GS-05, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:
Establishing or maintaining office files;
AND
Using office computer programs, such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint; and/or Google Docs.
OR
You may substitute education for experience as follows: 4 years of study above high school from an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, or university;
OR
You may qualify with a combination of specialized experience and related education.
Note: Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.
In addition to meeting experience or education requirements, this position requires a typing speed of 40 words per minute.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable (as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F):
Advancement to positions up to GS-5: Candidates may be advanced without time restriction to positions up to GS-05 if the position to be filled is no more than two grades above the lowest grade the employee held within the preceding 52 weeks under his or her latest non-temporary competitive appointment.
