You will serve as an Aircraft Examiner (Sheet Metal Mechanic) in the MRO F/A-18 Production Department of Fleet Readiness Center West located at Naval Air Station Lemoore, California.
This announcement uses the Certain Personnel of the DoD direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Duties
You will evaluate aircraft that has been involved in crash damage, heat/fire/salt water damage, hard landings, and overstress conditions.
You will conduct aircraft systems and sub-systems troubleshooting and fault isolation.
You will review aircraft and equipment logbooks, Scheduled Removal Cards (SRC), Accessory History Records (AHR), Equipment History Records (EHR), and other Type/Model/Series TMS documents and records.
You will collect and provide data for engineering Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and logistics analysis, norms and budget formulation, material forecasting, and workload planning.
You will be required to have regular and predicable attendance, which is an essential function of this position.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
