Duties

Develop, coordinate, and direct the formulation and implementation of budget programs and policies. Monitor use of funds and obligation rate to ensure there are no violations of the anti-deficiency act. Prepare funding status reports, briefings, and fact sheets using automated systems such as General Finance Enterprise Solutions (GFEBS). Explain budget requirements, limitations, and impact of program planning. Review directives and policies for dissemination to subordinate activities.

  • This position requires a Level 2 Financial Management Certificate.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Budget AdministrationFinancial ManagementFinancial SystemsOral CommunicationPrinciples of Finance Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you may qualify if your education meets the definitions below:

Education: Ph.D (or equivalent doctoral degree), or three years ( 54 semester hours) of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.M. directly related to this position from an accredited college or university. Note: you must attach your transcripts with your application package.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: I have the specialized experience described in A, but less than one year; and I have more than two but less than three years ( 54 semester hours) of graduate education as described in B. I have completed the percentage of the requirements that I meet and the total is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond two years (36 semester hours) by 18. Add the two percentages. Note: for the purpose of qualifications. One year of graduate education is equivalent to 18 semester hours. You must attach a copy of your transcripts with your application package.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
