Within CISA, the Infrastructure Security Division (ISD) focuses on protecting critical infrastructure from all hazards by managing risk and enhancing resilience through collaboration with the critical infrastructure community, which includes private sector owners, operators, and employees; state, local, tribal, and territorial (SLTT) officials; and other federal agencies.

The professional selected for this role serves as the Deputy Associate Director. They will be tasked with directing, supervising, and coordinating the work of Federal personnel engaged in product, training and capacity building for the school safety and security program, and stakeholder and partner outreach management. Typical work assignments include:
Directing and assuring the accuracy and efficient performance of tasks by subordinate staff;
Leading operational planning and coordination efforts related to capacity building for schools and communities to prevent violence and mitigate impacts of instances of violence;
Leading assessments of the current DHS, CISA and ISD school safety offerings and identifies opportunities for additional products, training, and exercises in partnership with school safety stakeholders;
Coordinating and developing training, resources, and doctrine to support education community partners in long term security resilience, including prevention, protection, mitigiation, response and recovery strategies;
Leading intra- or interagency school safety projects, programs or campaigns that advance CISA's and the federal government's capbilities
Fostering new strategic partnerships with school safety professionals, promoting information sharing between CISA and school safety stakeholders nationwide;
Representing ISD by speaking on behalf of the organization with FSLTT partners and organizations, education partners and organizations, private sector partners and organizations, members of Congress, Interagency Policy Committees and working groups;
Providing expert support, analyses, recommendations, and assistance to leadership on school safety and security, and the current threat environment and security trends, as well as complex strategic initiatives and projects.
Qualifications
To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience for the respective grade level in which you are applying.
You qualify for the GS-15 grade level, if you have:
EXPERIENCE: At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-14 grade level (or equivalent) performing the following duties:
Experience managing and organizing work across multiple portfolios/work streams related to school safety and security programs;
Implementing and leading physical security and protection/mitigation strategic programs specifically as they relate to school safety;
Developing and maintaining school safety stakeholder partnerships;
Managing strategic planning and implementation of programmatic operations, including administrative and personnel management, budget and acquisition resources;
Experience leading school safety briefings, presentations, exercises, interagency meetings and working groups.

Time-in-Grade Requirements: Under competitive merit promotion procedures, any individual who is currently holding, or who has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under a non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet "time-in-grade" requirements (have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade of the grade for which you are applying).
