Duties
You will provide individual and group counseling to service members and Department of Defense (DOD) civilian employees to advise on entitlements regarding the type and quantity personal property that can be moved at Government expense.
You will provide guidance for utilizing Defense Personal Property System (DPS) to arrange personal property shipments within the Continental United States and Outside Continental United States.
You will serve as a liaison between the Transportation Service Providers (TSP) and members in matters regarding shipping problems (e.g., delayed, damaged, or lost shipments).
You will compute mileage and transportation rates for your customers.
You will prepare and passport and visa packages in accordance with travel regulations.
You will notify customers of a storage expiration, advise the member of entitlement s for storage and/or shipments, and excess storage cost.
You will resolve and counsel members whose personal property has been lost or damaged during shipment and/or in storage.
You will ensure documentation is correct, and tickets are properly charged to perspective paying agencies and designated for a particular ticketing period.
You will answer phones, take messages, greet customers, assist with inquiries, makes appointments, and direct customer to correct staff.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Must be a qualified typist and be able to type 40 wpm.
- Must be able to complete mandatory training related to this position.
- You may be required to travel by air or other appropriate mode of transportation to attend required training or conferences.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
GS-06: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Counseling service members on personal property and travel entitlements; coordinating moves within and outside of Continental United States; AND determining proper mode of shipment for personal property.
