About the Position: Perform a variety of tasks involved in maintaining range buildings and training support facilities to include; inspection of range buildings, training support facilities, and training aids in order to provide maintenance and repair.
Duties
Inspect range buildings, training support facilities, and training aids to identify required maintenance.
Make and repair screens; repair and replace doors; perform minor plumbing and electrical work, replace windows, and make minor structural
repairs.
Replace or re-shingle roofs and replace siding on range buildings and support facilities.
Paint range structures and buildings as needed.
Construct new training support facilities to include training canopies, ammunition tables, rifle racks, target frames, target silhouettes, range
markers, lane markers, and stakes, to include minor repairs and replacements of target mechanisms.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Requires occasional lifting of items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Pre-employment and yearly physical required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Forklift Operators Permit.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Maintenance Worker (Range) without more than normal supervision. Apply basic carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical and roofing work and techniques associated with these trades; using and operating of a variety of hand and power tools; demonstrating knowledge of basic shop mathematics in order to plan, lay out, measure, cut, construct, and install materials according to dimensional requirements and specifications; working from sketches, work orders, basic blueprints, and instructions that are complete in terms of type of job required and materials and methods to use - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort: Must be able to lift 50 pounds unassisted and more with the assistance of other personnel. Able to bend, kneel, climb, work in tight spaces and stand for long periods of time. Exposed to moderate to high levels of noise while operating machinery to include dust fumes and hazardous chemicals.
Working Conditions: Some work is performed in shop areas where the employee is exposed to moderate or high noise levels from operating machinery, dust and fumes, and the hazards associated with working with power equipment. At job sites, the employee may be exposed to weather conditions and the hazards of working on and around scaffolds and ladders. The employee is subject to cuts, bruises, and contusions. The employee may work in confined areas that may be dusty and dirty. The use of protective devices such as earplugs, safety glasses, respirators, and gloves are required.
