Duties
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases (NCEZID), Division of Global Migration Health (DGMH), Port Health Protection Branch (PHPB), is seeking a motivated PHS officer to serve as Public Health Advisor (Port Health Program).
The officer selected for this assignment will serve as the Officer-in-Charge at an assigned CDC Port Health Station with duties and responsibilities including:
Serve as a recognized authority for and represent the DGMH programs and activities at ports of entry and transit in the servicing jurisdiction.
Implement mandated federal regulations, plans, policies and strategies designed to protect the public health of the United States related to communicable diseases.
Provide guidance, and direction to port partners in DGMH programs, quarantine principles, bioterrorism preparedness, and other public health activities related to control and prevention of communicable diseases.
Respond to requests for quality assurance reviews.
Assign work based on priorities, considering difficulty and requirements of assignments as well as the capabilities of employees.
Give advice, counsel or instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters.

Qualifications and Skills
The position requires qualifications and skills to include specialized experience.
Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position to include:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the CC-O4 billet grade level in the Federal service, to include experience providing guidance and direction to public health partners, including evaluating public health surveillance and monitoring data and processes.
Education
A copy of your transcripts or equivalent documentation is required for positions with an education requirement, or if you are qualifying based on education or a combination of education and experience. An official transcript will be required if you are selected.
