NEH is an independent grant-making agency of the government dedicated to supporting research, education, preservation, and public programs in the humanities.
Duties
**THIS POSITION CAN BE MADE PERMANENT WITHOUT FURTHER COMPETITION.**
Provides courteous, accurate, and responsive assistance to internal and external customers.
Distributes internal incoming mail, and performs various other administrative duties as assigned [e.g., duplication, messenger services]
Schedules and coordinates the use of the NEH conference and Council rooms by program staff.
Maintains office records, control logs (e.g., copy center jobs), and filing system. Determines appropriate file classification and establishes new files when necessary.
Applies OSHA laws and regulations in support of NEH operations.
Identify and report unsafe work conditions.
Maintain AED maintenance.
Assist with emergency preparedness planning.
Requirements

- Favorable background investigation
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered with the Selective Service
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.
At the GS-8 level Qualified candidates must possess:
1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-7 level or equivalent experience.
Specialized experience is experience that is directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, for example; Experience drafting correspondence and other documents with sensitive information; reviewing and processing mail; creating and maintaining a classified filing system; utilizing standard office equipment and software; maintaining inventory and ordering supplies; scheduling and arranging meetings; preparing, maintaining, and auditing time and attendance records; and responding to inquiries.
Selective Placement Factor (SPF)
In addition to the specialized experience applicants must possess the following selective placement factor:
Possession of a Safety Management Certificate or have completed related course work Safety Management Level 1, Safety Management Level 2, and or Corporate Safety Management.
