The Department of Energy (DOE), Office of Inspector General is currently looking for an Information Technology Specialist (Sysanalysis/Sysadmin) in the Office of Cyber Assessments and Data Analytics, Technical Support Division. Join our professional team of auditors and IT specialist who help support DOE's mission through performance audits of information management systems, administrative allegations, and evaluations and examinations on IT systems.

As an Information Technology Specialist (Sysanalysis/Sysadmin), you will:

  • Must participate in the Direct Deposit Program.
  • Must obtain and maintain a Q Security Clearance
  • The position is a Drug Testing Designated position and is subject to preemployment and random drug testing.

Qualifications

This position has a Basic Requirement: You must have: Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate. GS-5 through GS-15 (or equivalent): For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: To qualify for the GS-14 grade level you must possess one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: Support application development initiatives by allocating system resources, administering system software, ensuring system functionality, and maintaining system configurations. Apply information technology principles and knowledge to provide analysis in performing design and development efforts as well as identify potential improvements and efficiencies. Provide expert technical advice, guidance, and recommendations to management and other technical specialists on critical information technology matters. "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Time-in-Grade: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent by the closing date of this announcement to receive consideration.
