About the Position: This announcement is for an Engineering Technician (Civil), GS-0802-11 position at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District. This position is with Operations Division, Maintenance Section for the Mississippi River Project Office, located in Pleasant Valley, Iowa.

Duties

Provide technical and administrative support to maintenance programs and field operations. Perform quantities, computations, ordering and routing of steel and other items pertinent to the maintenance and repair activities. Determine plans and schedules of work to be performed, costs of materials, personnel, tools, and equipment required to accomplish the maintenance tasks. Serve as point-of-contact for vendors/bidders on technical specifications or questions regarding parts, equipment, paint, or other materials. Maintain, operate, and provide technical guidance to staff for a Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD) system. Conduct routine inspection of structures with District personnel to determine condition and necessary maintenance projects. Review inspection reports and assist in coordinating and accomplishing identified maintenance and repairs. Maintain all engineering phases of the detailed planning operations and maintenance accomplished through construction or service contracts, hired labor, or, a combination of both.

  • Must possess a valid State driver's license for the class of vehicle being operated based on site specific, job related requirements, and must maintain this license.
